Hog plum is a member of the Rhus family and is locally known as “Amla” in Bangladesh. The fruit is a drupe with a mixture of acidity and sweetness and is becoming more and more important in modern medicine due to its potential pharmacological action. 

It grows primarily in the Indian subcontinent. Bangladesh, India, and Nepal. Hog plums, mainly consumed as fresh fruits, have other uses, such as making jams, jellies, squash, and marmalade on a small, commercial scale. After consuming and manufacturing the above products, the skin is disposed of as waste containing almost 30% of fresh fruit. This waste is recognized as a problem for the food processing industry and environmental monitoring agencies.

How is Hog Plum oil Made
